When to expect a refund

  • Updated

The time it takes to get a refund depends on the merchant and how you returned the purchase (such as in-store or by mail). Most refunds take around 10 business days to be posted to your account.

Refund processing time

Typically, refunds are posted to your account around 10 business days after the merchant has processed the refund. Check the merchant’s return policy for their expected processing time. Some refunds may not be posted for up to 30 days.

If you’re not sure about the expected refund processing time, reach out to the merchant to find out more!

Returns by mail for online purchases usually take longer than in-store returns.

Refund for a cancelled subscription or purchase

When you cancel a subscription or purchase, the processing time for the refund depends on the type of purchase:

  • Cancelled subscription: Refund posts within 14 business days
  • Cancelled purchase: Refund posts within 10 business days

The refund started by the merchant won't show on your credit card or Neo Everyday account until it's posted to your account.

Refund for a security deposit (car rentals and hotels)

When you book a car rental or check in to a hotel, your card may be charged a security deposit, which is a pending transaction on your account. In most cases, the hotel or car rental company cancels this security deposit once you’ve checked out or returned the car. Your transaction on your credit account doesn’t immediately reflect the cancellation. Your pending transaction on your account gets reversed within 30 days. There's no way to rush this cancellation.

Didn’t receive a refund?

Contact the merchant and ask for a refund. If the merchant agrees to offer a refund, allow at least 30 days for the refund to process to your original payment method (the card used for the purchase).

Still haven’t received a refund after 30 days?

You can raise a dispute for a refund through the Neo app or website if you haven’t received a refund from the merchant after waiting for more than 30 days.

Dispute the refund

If you've contacted the merchant and haven't received your refund in over 30 days, you can dispute the transaction. You may be asked to provide documentation, such as a confirmation of the refund from the merchant.

Disputing a transaction doesn’t guarantee a refund. Our team will review your dispute claim and keep you updated.
