Before you start an application for a Neo product, we check whether you meet our eligibility requirements. These checks happen early in the process so you know before going through the full application.
General requirements for Neo’s products
These apply to all Neo products:
You must be the age of majority in your province or territory (see below for youth accounts)
You must be a Canadian resident
You must have valid government-issued photo ID
Neo credit card
To apply for a Neo credit card, you must:
Be the age of majority in your province or territory
Be located in an eligible province
Meet the minimum income requirement (if applicable to your card)
Not have an open or in-progress credit card application
Not have had a credit application declined in the last 30 days
Not have opened a secured Neo credit card in the last 3 months or a traditional Neo credit card in the last 6 months
Not already have the same credit card
Not have a delinquent Neo credit account
Not have a previous delinquency, charge-off, or fraud-related closure on a Neo account
Age of majority by province or territory
18 years: Alberta, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan
19 years: British Columbia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Yukon
Income requirements
The following cards require a minimum personal or household income:
Neo World Mastercard
Neo World Elite® Mastercard
Cathay World Elite® Mastercard
United® MileagePlus® Neo World Elite® Mastercard

Neo Savings account
To be eligible for a Neo Savings account, you must:
Be at least 13 years old (14 years old if you live in Quebec)
Not have a suspended or restricted account
Not already have an open or in-progress application for a Neo Savings account
Account limits
Up to 10 Neo Savings accounts at a time
Neo Everyday account
To be eligible for a Neo Everyday account:
You must be the age of majority in your province or territory
You'll need to provide your SIN (we use it to report interest earnings to the CRA)
You must not have a suspended or restricted account
You must not already have an open or in-progress application for a Neo Everyday account
Account limits
Up to 1 Neo Everyday account at a time
Youth accounts
Youth can apply for the JA Money card (which comes with the Everyday account) or a Neo Savings account.
JA Money card: You must be between 13 and 17 years old
Neo Savings account: You must be at least 13 years old (14 years old if you live in Quebec)
Identification requirements
To help protect your account, you may be asked to take a picture of a valid Canadian ID document or international passport. See accepted ID types.
What if I don't qualify?
Some restrictions are temporary. If you were recently declined or recently opened a card, you may be eligible again after a waiting period.
