Expired or declined Interac e-Transfer requests

Understand how Neo processes expired or declined Interac e-Transfers.

If you have sent an Interac e-Transfer® request and the transfer doesn’t deposit into the contact’s (recipient) account, Neo will automatically refund the amount to your Neo Chequing or Neo Everyday account.

Expired Interac e-Transfer requests

When you send an Interac e-Transfer to a contact, the recipient has 30 days to accept the transfer before it expires. If the transfers expires, Neo will automatically refund the amount to your Neo Chequing or Neo Everyday account.

Declined Interac e-Transfer requests

If you send an Interac e-Transfer to a contact, the recipient declines the transfer, Neo will automatically refund the amount to your Neo Chequing or Neo Everyday account.

Common reasons for Interac e-Transfer refunds

Neo may refund your Neo Chequing or Neo Everyday account for sent Interac e-Transfer requests. Here are some common reasons:

  • Transfer cancelled in the Neo app or website

  • Transfer declined by the contact (recipient)

  • Security question was answered incorrectly by the contact (recipient)

  • Transfer expired after 30 days
