Differences between transaction statuses

Transactions for your credit or Neo Money cards can have different statuses, including pending, posted, declined, or reversed. The credit or Neo Everyday account displays the current transaction status, but only transactions that are posted to your account are included in your credit card statement or Neo Everyday account statement.

What is a pending transaction?

Transaction made with your card that hasn’t yet been posted (settled with the merchant) to your account. Learn more about how ‌pending transactions work.

What is a posted transaction?

Transaction made with your card (if you made the transaction with your Neo Money card) from pending to posted (settled between the merchant and Neo). Posted transactions appear in the transaction history and are listed on your statement.

What is a declined transaction?

Transaction made with your card that wasn’t approved. Declined transactions appear in the transaction history, but aren’t listed on your statement.

What is a reversed transaction?

Transaction made with your card that the merchant doesn’t approve. Reversed transactions appear in the transaction history, but they aren’t listed in your credit or Neo Everyday account statement.

Why transactions might happen after a card is deactivated

In some rare cases, a transaction may still be processed to the account even after a card has been cancelled or removed. This can happen in a couple of specific situations:

  • A system approved the transaction on Neo’s behalf: If there’s a communication issue between systems at the time of the purchase, an external network may approve the transaction without checking with Neo first.
  • Merchant pushed the charge through manually: Some merchants may charge the account directly without going through the usual approval process. This usually happens when the charge was initiated earlier but only finalized later.

These situations are handled outside of Neo's systems so they can't be prevented ahead of time.

If this happened to you and you don’t recognize the transaction, you can dispute the transaction.
