Learn what to expect when processing a return or refund to a closed account or expired card.

If you are looking for an update on a pending return or refund, here’s some quick tips on how to check in.

  • Refunds don’t usually post as quickly as purchases. It might take some time for a refund to post.

  • You can check the transaction status online or through your Neo app.

If your refund hasn't been posted or it’s taking a little longer than expected, reach out to the merchant where you made the purchase.

Refunds to a closed account

Refunds to closed accounts will be declined. You'll need to update your details with the merchant to attempt the refund again.

Merchant won't refund to an alternate card

If a merchant refuses to process the refund without the original card, you can request the merchant use an alternative method (such as store credit).

Refunds to inactive cards

If your refund was made to an expired card or your old card details, the refund should still be processed in your account as long as it is open and active.
