A higher credit limit is a good way to make more room for spending or lower your credit utilization. You can request a higher credit limit for standard credit cards from your credit account.
Eligibility for a higher credit limit
Neo regularly reviews accounts for limit increases and may send you offers for a higher credit limit when you’re eligible. We look at your payment history, how you use your account, and other factors when deciding if you’re eligible for a higher limit.
Here is what you can do to support your eligibility for a higher credit limit. These steps don’t guarantee a specific limit or an approval.
Regularly use your card and pay your balance on time
Move your pay to Neo
Subscribe to a Neo membership
Set up recurring deposits with Auto-Save
Regularly use your card
Using your card for everyday purchases and paying on time helps Neo see how you manage credit. Steady, responsible use and a history of on-time payments are among the factors Neo considers when reviewing limit requests and offers.
Missing payments or carrying high balances relative to your limit can affect eligibility. Paying on time and keeping balances manageable supports a stronger picture over time.
Move your pay to Neo
Receiving qualifying payroll into your Neo Chequing account can give Neo a clearer picture of your income. Neo may use that information, along with other factors, when reviewing credit limit requests and offers.
For how to set up direct deposit and what counts as qualifying payroll, see Switch your pay to Neo.
Subscribe to a membership
Neo’s memberships include tools that support your credit goals. An active membership may be considered when Neo reviews your eligibility for a higher limit. Membership fees apply even if your limit doesn’t change.
For plan details and pricing, see How do Neo memberships work?.
Set up recurring deposits with Auto-Save
Auto-Save schedules recurring deposits into your Neo accounts. Regular deposits can show consistent saving behaviour, which Neo may consider along with other factors when reviewing your credit limit.
For how to turn on Auto-Save and choose amounts and frequency, see Auto-Save for Neo accounts.

Reasons to increase your credit limit
A higher credit limit can help lower your credit utilization and can give you more financial flexibility.
Lower your credit utilization
When you have a higher credit limit and don't spend much of it, you’ll have a lower credit utilization. Keeping your credit utilization below 30% across all of your credit cards is one of the ways to increase your credit score over time.
Improve your financial flexibility
Increasing your credit limit gives you more purchasing power by making more room for spending.
Impacts to your credit score
Your credit score won’t be impacted if you request a higher credit limit. Your credit history will be considered when we determine your eligibility for a credit limit increase, but there won’t be a hard credit check.
Increase the credit limit for secured credit cards
The credit limit for secured card cards is the amount of money you have set aside in the security fund. If you have a secured credit card, you can increase your credit limit by adding money to the security fund.
By making regular and on-time payments, you may be eligible for a higher credit limit without adding more security funds. We’ll let you know if you’re eligible!
